At DeLeon Springs State Park, visitors enjoy a Florida experience that includes cooling off in clear waters, roaming trails through a lush subtropical forest, that features a massive old -growth, bald cypress tree, and immersing oneself in a rich history.
As you enjoy your day in DeLeon Springs State Park, remember that you are visiting the home of wildlife creatures, and walking in the footsteps of history.
We have two trails, our Nature Trail and the Wld Persimmon Hiking Trail.
DeLeon Springs State Park is on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Wildlife and birdlife are plentiful and can be easily observed from the walkway across the spring. Otters, alligators, manatees, osprey, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, and even a swimming blackbear have been spotted.
Bears, hogs, turkeys, deer, and bobcats have also been seen on the trails. Look for turtles with their heads above water in the spring run and be entertained by the jumping mullet.
